Who we are

Somewhere between the seed and the plate, a right gets broken. We are the ones who go and fix it.

CEFROHT is an indigenous not for profit legal advocacy and action research organisation, founded in Kampala in 2019. We use a human rights based approach across the whole food chain, from pre production through post harvest, processing, marketing and consumption.

We litigateFree representation for people facing land, food and livelihood violations who could never otherwise afford counsel.

We reformEvidence, drafting and coalition work that moves national and regional law toward fairer food systems.

We empowerParalegals, journalists and farmers trained to use the law themselves, which is the only version that lasts.

Getting a plain warning onto the front of every ultra processed pack sold in Uganda, so a shopper knows what is inside before it reaches the pot.

Trans Fats Out of the Food Supply

Industrially produced trans fatty acids are cheap, invisible on a label, and quietly raise heart disease risk. We are pushing for a national limit that matches WHO best practice.
